Stay Balanced
" A false balance is abomination to the Lord: but a just weight is his delight."
---Proverbs 11:1
I am well aware that this verse has reference to those who are dishonest in their business dealings unto others, especially with the buying and selling of goods. But it also reminds me that as Christians we can get out of balance in our walk with Christ. Not just because of deliberate sinning against God, but rather because we can become workaholics. Even spiritual workaholics.
Some time ago, I read an article in a magazine about a man who had successfully served as pastor of a church for many, many years and he was being interviewed by a reporter about his long service unto people as a pastor and the reporter asked him, "What do you believe is the one primary reason why you have such long endurance in the ministry?" With a twinkle in his eye, he simply said, " I refuse to work myself to death and I make time ever week to rest and relax." Good medicine don't you think!?
How about you? Are you making time to just relax and rest?
It's been said that if you don't take time "apart", you'll just plain "come apart".
Life is sometimes busy and stressful. Yet if we desire to live a healthy life, we must "make time" for ourselves. Time to rest. Time to enjoy life. Time to laugh have some fun!
If I may offer a suggestion to you. Push yourself away from the work desk. Take the day off and enjoy doing something other than work.
"Make time" this week and every week to just rest, relax, and have some fun! It will refresh you and keep you balanced. You'll live longer and enjoy life much better!
